Jessie J wants to "carry on" Whitney Houston's legacy of being all "about vocals".
"There's a lot in the industry that isn't about vocals and Whitney Houston was all about that — that's what I'm trying to carry on," she said.
Jessie was introduced to her idol during rehearsals for Clive Davis' Grammys party, just days before her death, and she recounted to BBC Newsbeat that Whitney's daughter Bobbi Kristina told her: "My mum is here and wants to meet you."
Following the news of Whitney's death, an emotional Jessie had to muster all her courage to perform at the pre awards show 'bash', saying "I had to really bring myself together and go, 'You can do it Jess'".
