Icona Pop will release their "raw", "industrial" and "very poppy" album early next year so please update your Q12017 release schedules.
Having a chat with someone from Idolator at arts and crafts festival Coachella, the pair were asked if recent single 'Someone Who Can Dance' was on the new album, to which they replied:
"That was a song that just happened. All of the songs just happen. Now we’re much longer into the process of writing our album. It might end up on the album, it might not. It’s a song that we just felt like, “We want to do something fun right now.”"
"For the first time we’ve had time to spend some time in the studio because otherwise we’re always on the road," they added. "Now we’re like, “What is Icona Pop in 2016?”, which is an amazing feeling."
Indeed.
Asked why the album's taken so long (their last one was out in 2013), they basically said they found it hard to say no to the fun stuff they got offered (alongside touring with One Direction).
