Charli XCX's forthcoming ten-track mixtape is "essentially a whole new album"

  • February 16, 2017
  • Brad O'Mance

Your favourite popstar in the world Charli XCX has been chatting about this forthcoming mixtape of hers and basically it's a whole new album, but free.

“It’s just songs that me and AG Cook made in two weeks in LA when I was, like, feeling really depressed,” she explained to someone from the NME at their awards show last night.

“It’s 10 whole new songs basically. It’s [being called] a mixtape so it can go out for free, but it’s essentially an album, a whole new album.”

She also said that the success of 'After The Afterparty' means her next single has been delayed, which she's not over the moon about but what can you do.

“It gives me space to do stuff like the mixtape,” she mused. “While the label stress about all of that shit, I can just be in the studio, which I like.”

Is it frustrating though?

“Yes! Yes! Totally! Of course it gets frustrating. But you know, that’s just the game now, I guess. Whatever.”

Whatever indeed.
