Carly Rae Jepsen wants her next album to be her "own version of pop"

  • June 21, 2013
  • Brad O'Mance

Carly Rae JepsenPop firebrand Carly Rae Jepsen has controversially revealed that her next album will be "a pop album, but… An album that is my own version of pop".

So how would you explain what it sounds like, Jeppo?

"I can kind of explain it in some ways, and in other ways I'd rather not and let myself go in and create it," the 'Tonight I'm Getting Over You' hitmaker told Billboard.

"My favorite pop artists at the moment are Robyn… Kimbra, La Roux and Dragonette," she continued, which, Kimbra aside, is quite promising.

"And I think I have a folky side in my blood from what I used to listen to with my parents, and it'll be fun to incorporate that more in the verses of the pop songs, a little something deeper to the verses."

'Folk'.

'Deeper'.
