'Born This Way' has sold a lot of copies in the UK

  • May 30, 2011
  • Brad O'Mance

Lady Gaga's 'Born This Way' album has entered the UK chart at Number One.

As reported by Music Week, the album sold 215,369 copies in its first week and is now the fastest selling album of 2011 so far, overtaking Adele's '21'. It also sold more in a week than the rest of the top 10 combined.

Although Gaga managed to have the highest first week sales of an American female artist since Madonna's 'Confessions On A Dance Floor' in 2005, first week sales of 'Born This Way' are only the 36th highest of the 21st century.

In other news, Lady Gaga has revealed that both her grandma and Beyoncé helped her through the ordeal of being dropped by her first record label.
