Beyoncé wanted Nicki Minaj to go a bit mad on this 'Flawless' remix thing

  • August 5, 2014

beyonce-flawless

Nicki Minaj has been chatting away about how this 'Flawless' remix with Beyoncé came about and basically it all started a month or two ago when Gee Roberson, her manager, called her when she was on her way to Vegas and said, 'Beyoncé wants you to remix 'Flawless'.

"A month or two ago, Gee [Roberson, her manager] called me when I was on my way to Vegas and said, 'Beyoncé wants you to remix to 'Flawless'," she explained to Hot 97 (as quoted here).

"After I got proper medical help and started breathing again, I was like, 'What?'"

Amazing.

Then what happened?

"She sent me a version that she wanted. She told me, 'I want you to be you. I don't want you to hold back.' I said, 'You sure?' She said, 'Yeah. I want you to be you and do you.'"

Do go on.

"I was actually in New York writing the verse. I recorded the verse in New York and she stopped by the studio. She was such a sweetheart. She was hyping me up, 'Do your thing. Don't hold back. Go in.' I was like, 'Okay. Alright.'"

The 'Pills N Potions' hitmaker went on to say that it was then up to Beyoncé as to when she wanted to release it, with the pair texting each other pics of themselves for the song's 'cover art'.

Simple as that.
