As you will have noticed by now, 'Umbrella' is one of those almost supernaturally brilliant modern pop records, like 'Hung Up', 'Maneater' and 'Biology', which flicks an odd but pleasant switch somewhere deep in the public psyche.
As time goes by, Rihanna is dripfeeding new and exciting twists on the song. Following the Lil' Mama remix there is now (as of last week but we forgot to write about it then) the Chris Brown remix ("take three", according to Mr Z) where Chris takes over the song from the second verse, banging into the chorus with a triumphant cry of "I'm looking for the one with the glass slipper, you can be my Cinderalla-ella-ella".
