Amerie, you might remember, was shaping up to be the year's best R&B‑ish pop singer until some woman with an umbrella came along and stole her thunder, her lightning and most of her rain as well.
But here is the video to 'Gotta Work', a song which is simultaneously the best thing on the Amerie album (except 'Crush') and an amalgam of literally every other upbeat R&B record of the last three years.

Despite the video's hesitancy to be anything other than totally perfunctory (woman! Dancers! Room! Chairs.) it certainly does not make 'Gotta Work' sound any less like a hit. So it is a success. That said, nor does it make the song seem any more amazing than it already was. So it fails. Although having said that, there are no fewer than three — THREE — drummers on display in the video.
It's basically an alright video.
