Problems with the Robyn & Kleerup video

  • June 11, 2007

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t36QV_fM7oE

It looks like something Tony Hart might have knocked up. You expect Morph to appear at any moment, or for Mr Bennett to fall off a ladder in the middle eight. Maybe that is the Hartbeat the song is about. Can someone please check this for us? Cheers.

Robyn walks backwards in it, presumably as some sort of visual accompaniment to to "I don't look back" line. Although she could be walking forwards and still not be looking back. Looking back has nothing to do with the direction one is walking in. Also, surely "I don't look back" in the song is more about not looking back emotionally, rather than with your head. Were the video directors on drugs? Ridiculous.

Kleerup doesn't really do much. All he does is sit around pressing buttons. But that's what 'dance producers' do, we suppose. It's not even real music at the end of the day. Not like 'Gallows'.

Robyn spends most of the video looking like Helen Mirren, then dies. It is very sad. Nations will mourn. She was the grumpy-looking miniature Swedish pop warbler of people's hearts, etc.

NB: No other song this year will sum up in its first 0.5 seconds so much about what it is to be human.
