Not exactly comprehensive Bestival review

  • September 11, 2006
  • Popjustice
Popjustice went to Bestival on the Isle Of Wight at the weekend. We thought we weren't going to but then we did.

It is just as well we made the effort because it was very good. One particular bonus was that we managed not to recreate a scene from 22 years ago when, on the ferry, we dropped crisps all over the floor and burst into tears.

On the site itself there were lots of people and they were all very happy, while the Pet Shop Boys (above — once again our professional photographer was in tow) were officially Quite Watchable on the Saturday night.

It is just a shame that Bestival does not know any big corporations who are kind enough to let the festival use their logos everywhere. Festivals like V are really brightened up by luminous signs for mobile phone companies, booze manufacturers and sportswear shops — unfortunately, at Bestival, you just have to make do with a load of trees and open sky. Don't the Bestival organisers know what festivals are all about?
