Nerina, Le Kid, The Knocks 'et al': what's happening on the PJ Almighty?

 • March 7, 2011
 • Popjustice

1. NERINA PALLOT
She has written some enjoyable songs for other people. She has written some new songs for herself too and will be releasing these, which she's recorded with Bernard Butler, in the not-too-distant future. More importantly she has had some new photographs taken and there is not a stupid rabbit outfit to be seen. RESULT.

2. LE KID
When we listened to their latest single 'Oh My God' we thought it wasn't very good. We were mental, because as it turns out it's a cracker. Here is a video of them performing it in an attempt to represent Sweden at Eurovision. (Warning: what you are about to hear does not exactly sound like The xx.)
In addition to this their coming-very-soon album is called 'Alright Then'. And that, viewers, is a good name for an album.

3. VIKTORIOUS
(pictured)
As you will recall, Swedish singing chap Viktiorious was responsible for a monstrously amazing single called 'When We Were 10' last year. Well, for the last few weeks he's been banging out free downloads every Saturday via his website. The 'Viktorious Weekends' series has already thrown up some corkers like 'Instant Virtuality' and 'Scandalous'; this weekend just gone threw up 'Planes And Trains', and there are more to come. Naturally there's a laborious Facebook mechanism involved in unlocking your free downloads but that is the modern way is it not. Yes there's something a bit 'give it a rest love' about his image, but it's just the right side of bearable for the time being.

4. THE KNOCKS
Actually we'll do a separate post about why The Knocks are currently brilliant but basically they've done a new EP and every song on it is brilliant and clever and exciting.

5. SKY FERREIRA
So far we've made two days from her upcoming 'As If!' EP Song Of The Day, and we may well pick a third later this week. In case you missed them here is 'Sex Rules'…

We enjoy listening to both those songs.
