There is a full length version of the Doritos Mariachi band doing 'Love Machine'

  • June 29, 2012
  • Popjustice

There has been an exciting development in Popjustice's half-arsed campaign for an opportunistic record label to sign the ludicrous Mariachi band in the current Doritos ad campaign.

News has reached Popjustice* that the band's cover of Girls Aloud's 'Love Machine' — featured very briefly in the ads — also exists as a full length version.

Well that's not exactly what we were told but we asked if we could give away an MP3 of it and they said they didn't have the clearance to do that yet and we have deduced various things from that, including:

1. They wouldn't discuss giving away just a few seconds so there must be a proper version, right?

2. The 'not having clearance yet' thing might just be a delaying tactic while they wait to see if someone like Digital Spy wants to take it first.

3. Well that's it really. That is the end of our detective work.

Basically one day you might get to hear a Mariachi version of 'Love Machine', here or perhaps elsewhere. It might be brilliant.

EDIT: There is a long version of 'Love Machine' on YouTube but we, like most of you, feel it only right to insist on a full studio version.

(Incidentally there has also been some sort of protracted marketing 'activity' around a Facebook page where you have to get involved in order for the band to come to your house for a gig or something, but we are not linking to that because we are angry that the phrase "YOU GOTTA 'LIKE' FOR DORITO PARTY" was featured nowhere in any of the promotional literature.)

*** Then a big box of Doritos turned up — amazing
