Rihanna's video for 'Man Down' has been criticised by various groups in America for its depiction of sexual assault and murder.
The video, which was directed by long-term collaborator Anthony Mandler, opens with Rihanna shooting a man who, we find out later, sexually assaulted her.
A Mothers Against Violence spokesperson said: "We need solutions, not songs influencing vulnerable individuals.". Melissa Henson from the Parents Television Council was worried that the singer was sending out the wrong message, saying: "Instead of telling victims they should seek help, Rihanna released a music video that gives retaliation in the form of premeditated murder."
The Metro are reporting that Rihanna will now re-shoot the two violent scenes.
In response, Rihanna had this to say on her Twitter: "Young girls/women all over the world…we are a lot of things! We're strong innocent fun flirtatious vulnerable, and sometimes our innocence can cause us to be naive! We always think it could NEVER be us, but in reality, it can happen to ANY of us! So ladies be careful and #listentoyomama! I love you and I care!"
