Miley Cyrus has appeared as a mentor on American Idol

  • April 28, 2011
  • Brad O'Mance

Miley Cyrus made a surprise appearance on last night's American Idol.

The 'Who Owns My Heart' warbler showed up to mentor contestant Lauren Alaina, who had previously sung a version of Joe McElderry's 'The Climb'.

Alaina let the cat out of the bag yesterday when she tweeted "I got to meet @MileyCyrus and she was so classy and genuine".

Classy and genuine: or as we like to call them, Jedward.

Cyrus offered advice to all of the remaining contestants in the shape of this slightly downbeat soundbite: "The most important thing you can do is just do it for yourself, because you will always have mean comments. They will always talk about you — always — and that's never gonna change."

Cheers Miley.
