Guitar‑y but good

  • October 30, 2007
  • Popjustice

Operator Please are very much the little guitar band but there is no point in denying that their music is anything other than amazingly brilliant, fun and funny. If you weren't fortunate to see their 'Just A Song About Ping Pong' video earlier in the year, then click here and watch it. It's quite yellow, but if you can think of any reason not to like the colour yellow then we'd like to hear it.

Operator Please are Australian, have a collective age of about 8 and we saw them earlier in the year with Go! Team. People who were at that gig will remember it because it was the night when the sound people at the Astoria decided to play silly beggars and turn things up to an excruciating level where everyone who went was moaning about a ringing in their ears for days afterwards. Good show though.

Back in the here and now Operator Please have another single coming out. It's called 'Leave It Alone' and much like the recent Hadouken! video, it is both fucking gloomy and also quite colourful. The song itself is great, although a re-release of 'Just A Song About Ping Pong' is surely inevitable for 2008.*

'Leave It Alone' by Operator Please then. One of the best bands with guitars in their songs we can think of. An indie Alphabeat with a fiddle if you will…

*We'll just sit and wait for that not to happen and pretend we never said that.
