Ryan Tedder's said some things about the making of Ellie Goulding's 'Burn'

  • March 20, 2014
  • Brad O'Mance

Ryan TedderRyan Tedder's claimed that Ellie Goulding's UK Number 1 single 'Burn' sat around for a year before Greg Kurstin performed his magic on it.

Having a chat about the making of some of his biggest hits with Billboard, Teddo said the following about 'Burn':

"I wrote it on a tour bus in Chicago, me and Brent [Kutzle, of OneRepublic]. I was so ecstatic about the song that our show was probably delayed five minutes because I couldn't stop listening to it," he mused.

"Ellie cut the vocal, killed it, she didn't mess around. And then it sat for a year. [Interscope] came back to me and I told my manager, 'I can't even look at it and I will give up publishing to do it.'"

No mention of Leona Lewis recording it, but oh well.

"We had a list of two or three producers — the name [Greg] Kurstin came up. I don't think I let them finish the sentence because I had just spent time with him on the Beyoncé camp [Greg produced 'Standing On The Sun']. And I said, 'Absolutely Greg Kurstin! I know that he is the guy.' I sent him a list of comments, he gave it a second pass, and it was done."

Easy really.

He also said that 'Halo' was written in just three hours. THREE SHITTING HOURS!
