Sky Ferreira's quite happy her album's out and she can be who she is etc

  • March 19, 2014
  • Brad O'Mance

SkySky Ferreira reckons that recording and finally releasing her debut album has been like one big therapy session.

"I had a lot of anger in me that I think was suppressed," she mused to the Metro. "I have a hard time communicating things, so when I finally recorded the album, it was like: 'Oh, I finally said it.' It was therapeutic."

She's also pretty happy she didn't change who she was when it was probably a lot easier to do that to be honest.

"The best outcomes I’ve ever had with stuff is when I’m being myself and not changing or toning it down," she explained. "Even though that route is a lot harder, slower and more painful when people judge and poke fun at you, at least I’m doing what I want and I can stand behind what I do."

Asked about the whole modelling and being a popstar thing, she said:

"I’m always up for trying different things. That’s why when people ask whether it bothers me that people put me as a 'model slash musician', I say no, because I get to be something outside myself and try new things."

'Night Time, My Time' is finally out now in the UK.
