Carly Rae Jepsen wanted to write folk songs but then she wrote 'Call Me Maybe' instead

  • December 10, 2012
  • Brad O'Mance

Carly Rae Jepsen had every intention of being a folk singer until the SUPREME POWER of 'Call Me Maybe' took over and made her see sense.

Chatting to the Metro about her love for Leonard Cohen and Van Morrison, the 'Sour Candy' hitmaker explained how her tastes evolved.

"My love for pop grew slowly but surely. I’d go into the studio with every intention of writing a folk song but they started to turn into pop songs so I threw my hands in the air and stopped fighting it."

"It was around that time I wrote 'Call Me Maybe'," she continued.

Thank goodness for that eh readers.
