The new Dragonette album is inspired by Paul Simon

Story filed by Brad O'Mance on May 15, 2012

Dragonette’s upcoming third album was inspired by Paul Simon’s ‘Graceland’ album.

“Paul Simon’s ‘Graceland’ – I could not stop listening to that album while I was doing this record,” Martina enthused to andPOP.

“I was like, ‘imagine if somebody could make this kind of happiness and smallness, but it was a dance record’. That was my dream for the whole album, taking all of ‘Graceland’ and pulling it over to Dragonette. Not in a direct line way, just like a feeling and a vibe.”

Mind you, it wasn’t just Paul Simon that inspired the album, but “old music” in general and attempting to “translate it to all of these synth toys and beats we can create on a computer”.

No details of what the album’s called or when it might come out have been announced yet, ‘apols’.
