Jake Shears would rather you didn’t call the Scissor Sisters camp

Story filed by Brad O'Mance on May 18, 2012

Jake Shears has explained that he doesn’t think the Scissor Sisters are camp.

In a chat with the Daily Mail (!), he explained: “I got irked recently when a TV presenter said our new single was camp. I met the author Gore Vidal [CLANG] earlier this year. At one point, he turned to me and said: ‘Camp is just another word for somebody with no talent’.”

Poor Adam Lambert.

“It’s a word with novelty connotations. I resent it, as I’m not a camp person. I’m straightforward,” he continued straightforwardly. “On stage, we adopt a showy personality, but to call us camp is dismissive.”

Well whether it’s dismissive all depends on who’s calling you camp and what they mean, really, isn’t it, but we take your point.
