The lineups for the Top Of The Pops Christmas and New Year’s Eve specials have been announced and they basically include all the usual suspects (plus La Roux).

Take That, Ed Sheeran, Clean Bandit, Rixton, Gorgon City feat MNEK and Ella Henderson will all sing their songs on the Christmas one while Charli XCX, La Roux, Professor Green, The Vamps, The Script, Ed Sheeran (again) and Ella Henderson (again) will perform on the New Year’s Eve one.

The Christmas episode will air – get this – on Christmas day at 2pm, while the New Year’s Eve one will be – hold on – on New Year’s Eve at a time yet to be announced.

That is quite literally that.

Sia ‘scooped’ four ‘gongs’ at the ARIA Awards (basically the Australian version of the Brits but with less Ant and Dec) last night, so well done to her.

The reigning queen of the backdrop-facing pop warble won bookends for Best Female Artist and Best Video for ‘Chandelier’, while ‘1000 Forms Of Fear’ was awarded Best Pop Release and Album Of The Year.

Other winners included One Direction (Best International Artist), 5 Seconds Of Summer (Song Of The Year for ‘She Looks So Perfect’) and The Wiggles who won Best Children’s Album for the seminal ‘Apples & Bananas’.

The full list of winners can be seen right here, if lists of winners is your thing.

Ever.

Asked by Uncut magazine (as quoted here) to pick a musical highlight outside of his work with radio edit avoiding Top Of The Pops soundtrack providers Led Zeppelin, he said his choice would “surprise everyone” before he added:

“I’d be very sincere if I said that doing the Olympics with Leona Lewis was phenomenal. She’s really plucky, she’s superb, and she sang ‘Whole Lotta Love’ brilliantly.”

“We managed to do the full length of ‘Whole Lotta Love’ – it wasn’t edited – and she sang it beautifully. It was so cool the way she approached it.”

Here is that beautiful moment just in case you’d forgotten all about it:

We’re not sure if Leona feels the same about it but we’ll be sure to ask her next time we see her.

According to an Instagram video she’s just posted, Rihanna seems to still be in the studio despite the fact we’re very much into the important bit of Q4.

Maybe she’s putting the very final touches to the album before she dumps it on iTunes later today?

Maybe she’s finalising a bit of the new single before she dumps that on iTunes?

Maybe this is something for that soundtrack thing she’s been doing?

Maybe this is just the first of a long line of ‘teasers’ that will come throughout the night leading to the dumping of a song/album on iTunes?

Maybe she’s only just started? :(

Jordin Sparks has popped a new song onto the world wide web http://www.popjustice.com/thenews/jordin-sparks-has-popped-a-new-song-onto-the-world-wide-web/132607/ http://www.popjustice.com/thenews/jordin-sparks-has-popped-a-new-song-onto-the-world-wide-web/132607/#comments Tue, 25 Nov 2014 09:58:23 +0000 http://www.popjustice.com/?p=132607 jordin-sparks

‘This Is My Wish’ hitmaker Jordin Sparks has shared a new song called ‘How Bout Now’ with the world.

The song in question is taken from her forthcoming mixtape (!), ‘Bye Felicia’, which is being ‘hosted’ by your friends and ours, The LA Leakers.

We think, but we can’t be sure, that ‘How Bout Now’ deals with Sparks’ recent breakup with Jason Derulo, specifically on this lyric: “Remember when you broke your neck and I had to wash your back for ya?”

But really it could be about anyone, so let’s not jump to conclusions.

Here it is anyway:

‘Bye Felicia’ is out at some point today apparently.

Former hat-wearer extraordinaire Olly Murs has said he never wants to make an album that surprises his fans in any way.

Having a chat with the BBC about his new single ‘Wrapped Up’ and how he didn’t actually want it to be the first single, the ‘Hand On Heart’ hitmaker said the following:

“It was a song I knew my fans would absolutely love. I could have come back with something completely fresh and different to what I’ve done before, but I felt like that was even more of a risk.”

He added: “I never want a fan of mine to pick up an album and go ‘this sounds a bit different – this doesn’t sound like what he’s done before.'”

Amazing. Well done everyone.

One Direction and Katy Perry were the big winners at the American Music Awards last night, so well done them and their respective fanbases.

The ‘lads’ walked off glumly with Artist Of The Year, Favourite Pop/Rock Album (for ‘Midnight Memories’) and Favorite Pop/Rock Band/Duo/Group.

The ‘This Is How We Do’ hitmaker, meanwhile, collected ‘gongs’ for Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist, Favorite Adult Contemporary Artist and Single Of The Year for ‘Dark Horse’.

Beyoncé and Iggy Azalea both ‘scooped’ two bookends, so well done to them as well.

Rita Ora’s next single will be called ‘Testosterone’ and it will be out very soon http://www.popjustice.com/thenews/rita-oras-next-single-will-be-called-testosterone-and-it-will-be-out-very-soon/132568/ http://www.popjustice.com/thenews/rita-oras-next-single-will-be-called-testosterone-and-it-will-be-out-very-soon/132568/#comments Mon, 24 Nov 2014 09:44:03 +0000 http://www.popjustice.com/?p=132568 Rita ora

Rita Ora’s revealed that she’s involved in some sort of concept album thing for the Broadway version of Finding Neverland (!) and, on a separate note, that her next single will be called ‘Testosterone’.

Both of these snippets of information were communicated to Lance Bass of *NSYNC fame before last night’s American Music Awards in the video you can see below:

If you can’t be bothered to watch it, basically she’s involved in the soundtrack for the musical in some way and she then says her next single ‘Testosterone’ will be out in “a week and a half”.

So there we go.
