Example has been nominated for a best newcomer award

Story filed by Brad O'Mance on May 10, 2012

Example has been nominated for Breakthrough UK Artist of the Year at the ARQIVA Commercial Radio Awards (no idea), despite having been around for quite a while really and having his first Top 20 hit in 2009.

He goes up against Ed Sheeran and  Jessie J for the title.

We suppose Example is a newcomer in the sense that, for instance, the printing press is a fairly recent invention when you think about the Big Bang and dinosaurs and all that, but for anyone with a popular interest in popular song, as you’d think that the people behind the Commercial Radio Awards might have… [Alright we get the idea - Ed.]

There’s also an award for the Most Played UK Artist on Commercial Radio, with Adele, Take That and The Wanted nominated. Last year ‘Bad Romance’ won! Amazing. We wonder who it’ll be this year.

(SPOILER ALERT: it’s probably Adele isn’t it.)
