By this time next year Madeon will probably have had a Number One single. Possibly as the man behind a hit for someone else, although we reckon new single 'The City' deserves to do the job in its own right.
Like the rest of Madeon's output (or what we've heard of it) 'The City' feels like the work of three of our favourite pop things - Stuart Price, Calvin Harris (a bit), Daft Punk - in one big explosion of pop amazingness with a bit of Modjo thrown in: it's intricate and clever and melodic and charismatic and banging where it needs to be but also subtle where it needs to be too.
JESUS CHRIST IMAGINE IF THE NEW ONE DIRECTION SINGLE SOUNDED LIKE THIS.
It's all the more amazing when you consider that Madeon himself is just seven years old.
Vocals here are from Zak Waters, whose own 'Skinny Dipping In The Deep End' is worth investigating if you have a moment or two to spare.
The song was debuted on Annie Mac's show earlier tonight, and the rip below comes via Alias. If it's gone by the time you see this, apols, but that's the way these things go, and panic not - we have a feeling you'll be hearing a lot more of this song over the coming months.
