After the band took a Year Off to focus on solo projects, the longest-serving member in the band has confirmed to celebrity website Digital Spy that the 4th ‘incarnation’ of the Sugababes is recording again.

“We’re all writing in the studio anyway,” she said. “It’s kind of ongoing. But there’s no plans to bring anything out this year.”

Meanwhile, on the subject of comebacks, she had this to say of the much-mooted Origibabes reunion: “I haven’t really given it much thought,” she roared controversially. “I know that they are back together – I’ve known that since last year.”

And of Atomic Kitten’s reunion?

“I don’t know if I’d go to one of the shows, but I think it’s great if they’ve had a break and want to get back together,” Range raged. “I hope it goes well.”

In an interview that can be found right here, the Sugababe admits to having “no bad blood” towards Siobhan, Mutya or Keisha.

“I think they’re all very talented,” she pointed out. “It’s interesting ’cos I haven’t heard anything from Siobhan in so long – I’m quite intrigued because she’s so talented, her songwriting ability is amazing and she’s done a lot of songwriting for other artists.”

Talk of Siobhan went one step further when Amelle eerily admitted: “I’ve been following her silently for a while.”

In other news Berrabah said her first release should be “in the first week of September” and that bandmates Jade and Heidi are also quite busy, with the former “doing her solo album” and the latter “doing a bit of presenting and things like that.”

‘Things like that’ being not singing.

Siobhan was first to reveal more about the group’s latest activity, tweeting: “The singles are in the baaaagggg!!!”

“…and none of it is what you’re expecting,” added the ‘So You Say’ hitmaker.

Keisha proved to be a bit more descriptive about their new stuff, claiming that “[the song] today was a club banger for the under ground massive! This ones gonna have you all Skankin #Studio”.

Buchanan then went on to correct herself, jesting: “Lol sorry… “Skankin” “Shackin out” is a term for dancing HARD on the dancefloor haha like going innn xxx.”

To top it all off, production ‘outfit’ Major Toms confirmed that “[they've] had the Sugababes (original) in the Major Toms studio all this week cooking up a storm!”

Mutya, meanwhile, got a bit upset because all this singing stuff is getting in the way of her finding a man.

So that’s what’s been happening in the world o’the Origibabes.

In signs that things are moving along nicely, Keisha tweeted that she’d had an “amazing meeting” yesterday with the Origibabes’ hard-working “Glam team(stylist, make up etc)4 the album cover etc.”

Etc!

The best bit of all, ,and the real ‘news’ here – if any – is that Keisha added: “So excited. Won’t be long!!”

Mutya tweeted: “Yeh babe releasin this yr” when questioned about her current involvement in music.

We wonder if Sean Michaels knows anything about what it might be?

No, but seriously, it’s probably got something to do with all this.

The former Jacques Townhouse cider ambassador for 2011 tweeted a photo of herself and Ms B pulling ‘cheeky’ poses in the studio.

“Great day in the studio with @KatyBmusic !!! The album is coming guys! Whooooooop,” was Keisha’s sombre statement.

Katy B joins Emeli Sandé, Biff, MNEK and Cameron McVey on the list of people working on the new album by the reformed Sugababes 1.0 lineup.

The Origibabes have signed a record deal with Polydor and will definitely need a new name despite the fact that no one seems to be using the old one. (The Sun) Having said this, Sean Michaels has still not confirmed this news so nobody treat it as fact until he’s had his say, okay?

And finally, Jessie J was understandably a little disturbed to find out a young fan had broken their leg to copy the injury she suffered last year. (Contactmusic) That’s taking things a bit far, isn’t it viewers? When we’re feeling in a Jessie kind of mood, we just throw on an old ‘onesie’ and sing inspirational things to ourselves while thrusting ourselves around all over the place. It might sound silly but it helps kill the time on long bus journeys.

“They’ve been working on new material all year with some high-profile songwriters and producers,” reports an ‘industry insider’.

The ‘source’ added: “This is a huge sign the industry thinks they’ve still got it.”

The Sun are also reporting that Siobhan, Keisha and Mutya will not be allowed to go by their original name and will have to ‘brainstorm’ – and agree upon – a new one.

In a very brief chat with The Sun Sandé says: “What we’ve done so far sounds great. They’re going to make people stand up and notice.”

There’s still no official name for the band, nor is there a release date for any of the new material.

We’re still compiling our ‘dossier’ on ‘Give Me All Your Luvin”, but that Super Bowl performance was pretty great.

Ideally what will happen now is that feat Nicki Minaj & MIA will keep popping up as a double act, shouting and swearing, on other people’s records. They will eventually figure out that they spend so much time together that they might as well form a proper pop duo – the cheerleader ‘motif’ will continue – and share a flat. Their flat will be the situation of a ‘living with feat Nicki Minaj & MIA’-style docusoap. They won’t always get on, but they’ll always laugh when they remember that time they turned up and made a Madonna song briefly amazing. Roman will also appear, in the guise of a local policeman whose catchphrase “good moaning – I was just pissing by” will be cherished by a generation. One day Eminem will try to piss on them. The duo will briefly split up when one half formed a duo called Sia & MIA but that will all fall apart when they realise that it doesn’t work phonetically and literally just looked good on paper. The theme to the show will be the Terry & June music except with gunshot sound effects and Natasha Bedingfield backing vocals.

5. The Brits
