No Doubt are a complicated band: sometimes amazing, sometimes not.
Although they are best when they let Gwen take the reins, even when they get carried away with the guitars and whatnot, they still have an ear for melody.
After coming to worldwide attention in the '90s with 'Don't Speak', they messed things up a bit by releasing 'Return To Saturn', which precisely nobody bought despite it being genius in places.
Their version of Talk Talk's 'It's My Life' is one of the greatest cover versions ever.
They went on hiatus so that Gwen could become a popstar in her own right, but then 'reconvened' in 2010 to start recording together again.
This didn't really amount to much to be honest and then they tried again in 2011 and eventually an album, 'Push And Shove', was released in 2012 to a fairly muted response from the general public.
For example 'Looking Hot' sold 680 copies the week the band performed it on The X Factor. Doesn't stop it being amazing though does it.
