The salient points

  • Nicola Roberts came to fame through Popstars: The Rivals, the TV show that gave us One True Voice and Phixx.

  • She quickly established herself as the frontwoman in Girls Aloud.

  • Initially she was pale and enigmatic and then she started using fake tan but now she's pale and enigmatic again.

  • She may not have the strongest pipes in Girls Aloud but her soft whisper of a voice can melt hearts in a dancing-while-crying kind of way.

  • Her first solo single 'Beat of My Drum' was produced by Diplo and while not exactly 'setting the charts alight' it was very good

  • Her album, 'Cinderella's Eyes', also featured production from Metronomy and Dragonette, which rather screams 'critics favourite'.

  • Nicola Roberts is amazing.
