“I will be opening for @ladychatterley [THAT'S NERINA PALLOT, 'BTW'] at her 11th Feb Islington Assembly Hall show, playing a solo piano set. Only London show before June,” tweeted the ‘Love Part II’ hitmaker earlier today.

Usually we wouldn’t promote things like a “solo piano set” but we’ve seen Bright Light do it before and it was really quite lovely.

The EP is titled ‘Lonely Valentine Club’ and will ‘drop’ just in time for Valentine’s on February 4.

Alongside four new songs the EP will feature a cover of CeCe Peniston’s ‘Finally’.

Nerina will then jaunt her way through the following cities on these exact dates:

‘Taking to Twitter’ the ‘Turn Me On Again’ hitmaker said the vinyl will be a double a-side featuring ‘Year Of The Wolf’ tracks ‘All Bets Are Off’ and ‘Butterfly’.

No release date has been announced – although Record Store Day is on April 21 so that seems like a safe bet – with Pallot  promising she’ll ”post further details soon”.

‘All Bets Are Off’ (We Are The Chatterleys mix)

Nerina’s ‘Year Of The Wolf’ album probably should have been a little higher than it was on our end of year albums list as it was very very good indeed but we can’t go back in time and change things now so it’s just going to have to stay where it is.

It’s all different now anyway because as of this week there is a reswizzled ‘New Year Of The Wolf’ (do you see what they’ve done there) version with some other stuff on it. The press release in our inbox features positive quotes from Dermot O’Leary, Jeremy Vine and Terry Wogan (WORLD’S WORST SPITROAST) which probably suggests that the whole thing is very boring but it is, in fact, quite the opposite and this new version of ‘All Bets Are Off’ is a good example of the aforementioned unboringness.

She told The Music Fix, “I’m quite relaxed about it all really. I see it as two separate things. I make music. There is a music business. The two must interface at some point, but they don’t have to influence each other if you don’t want them to. At the end of the day, we are all trying to make a living and that is the shared common ground.”

When asked about her fondness for tackling major issues in her songwriting, she remarked that “judging by how many people buy records by Pitbull feat some bird with no clothes on, you might be forgiven for thinking it’s entirely irrelevant these days”.

That the ‘N’ section of the music on our iPhone is completely awesome.

WHAT ELSE CAN WE LEARN FROM THIS?

1. If she really want to get ahead in this game we call pop, Nicki Minaj could do with duetting with a few more people. Just to get her name around a bit. Come on, Nicki Minaj’s people, show a bit of ‘get up and go’ and give this exciting new artist a helping hand.

In an interview with the BBC, Pallot – who is, of course, a very good pop star in her own right – talks about writing for the likes of Kylie Minogue and Diana Vickers, saying it helps her get all her “uber-pop” tendencies out. “I get to inhabit somebody else’s persona for a day. It’s like dressing up musically – and pulling out things I would never have the guts to wear normally.”

As well as revealing that her new album was produced by Bernard Butler because he also supports Arsenal and that her voice was affected by her then unborn son pressing on her diaphragm, she also, finally, confirmed that she is indeed taller than Kylie.
