• Nelly Furtado is like a bird.

• Her debut album, the excitedly-titled 'Whoa, Nelly!' had some nice songs on it, but something was missing.


• 2003's 'Folklore' album had some nice songs on it but fewer people cared and it still it felt like something was missing.


• Then, in 2006, 'Loose' came out and everyone realised what was missing was a display of midriff, Timbaland and at least five amazing singles.


• This is still one of the best things about the 'noughties'.


• In 2009 she released a Spanish-language album, 'Mi Plan', which, you know, is fine, but it's not exactly what we wanted.
