The salient points

  • This man practically invented pop music as we know it.

  • Instead of going to school or playing about with his mates, the young Michael Jackson sang and danced with his brothers. Not just in his living room, but on TV in front of millions of people. Fancy that!

  • In 1983, Jackson released an album called 'Thriller' and it was a moderate success, selling close to 100m copies.

  • He basically invented dancing by deciding to walk backwards instead of forwards while wearing one glove.

  • The 'Bad' album is made up mainly of amazing singles such as this one.

  • Things went a little awry in the mid-90s but there was still room for the odd Jackson classic.

  • He died in 2009, but the music lives on, etc.
