Aware of the fact it’s been three years since her last opus, she added: ”You asked when new stuff was coming, I procrastinated :) but no more.”

“It’s here now, I’m happy. You should be too, embrace it! Wepa!”

The first new music to appear is ‘Jerk Ribs’, which you can listen to here if you missed it earlier this week.

The song is called ‘Call On Me’ and is either an old song that never made it onto one of her previous albums, or something new from the sessions she’s been doing with Dave Sitek.

It’s got a lot of horns on it, that much we do know.

UPDATE: It looks like the song is new and official and that it’s actually called, er, ‘Jerk Ribs’.

The song’s been floating about in various states for a few weeks, but now you can hear it in all its ‘glory’ below.

It’s out on December 21, apparently.

Basically Calvin Harris’ new album will be called ’18 Months’ and has one or two ‘guest spots’ on it.

‘Taking to Twitter’ the ‘Yeah Yeah Yeah La La La’ hitmaker announced: ”My new album is called 18 Months + features Kelis Rihanna Example Nicky Romero Ellie Goulding Tinie Tempah Florence Dizzee Rascal Neyo + Ayah + Dillon Francis.”

’18 Months’ is released on October 29.

‘Distance’ was produced by Skream and is in keeping with this whole 90s ‘vibe’ she’s previously said has influenced her forthcoming album.

We can’t help but wonder whether the bit where she sings “taste the difference” has got anything to do with the fact that she has a range of cooking sauces coming out soon.

“I love lifestyle stuff, I love housewares. I’m really a homebody, honestly. Anything to do with my kitchen, or my house, I’m all about it,” the ‘Mr. U.F.O. Man’ chanteuse told the NME. ”I’m working on a sauce line, so that’s kind of exciting. I’m a saucier.”

“It depends what day you ask me, some days I’m like ‘It’s 80% done’ and other days when I say ‘I’m 40% done’. I’m sort of midway I guess. It’s exciting though, it’s more electro, it’s a little deeper and darker.”

One song that may or may not be 100% finished is with professional noisemaker Skream.

“I was working with a friend of mine and she said ‘Skream’s got this great track for you, can I get him to send it?’,” she said. “So I said yes and then he sent that track and something else. I’ve been on a real 1990s vibe with this record, it’s kind of trip-hoppish. So I wrote a track to that.”

He described ‘Distance’ as “a UK garage record” when speaking to US website iEnlive recently.

Skream told them: “It’s getting a UK release so I guess it’ll get an American release.”

‘Bounce’ excepted, ‘Distance’ would be Kelis’ first release since 2010. She said in September last year that she was hoping to finish her record in a matter of weeks.

In ‘music business’ news, Justin Bieber and ‘Till I Collapse’ rapper Eminem have become “embroiled” in a legal battle with South Korean company Moonstone Management for allegedly being booked for a show they never turned up to. (Contactmusic) We can ‘reveal’ that it was to perform separately, not as a double act. (Although that would, we are sure you will agree, be quite something.)

‘Drop Down (Do My Dance)’ hitmaker Afrojack has ‘revealed’ that his new collaborator Shakira is loving dance music at the moment. (Billboard) He notes “when a beat drops, she makes this like…face. She’s feeling it”. That is good to know.
