• Like one or two other pretty good female popstars, Gabriella Cilmi was born in Australia.


• Before becoming a pop singer she used to perform rock covers with her band, Foucault (oh dear).


• To show that she's a serious musician, Cilmi's first UK TV appearance was on Later… With Jools Holland in December 2007.


• Still, at least she performed 'Sweet About Me', which as anyone with ears will tell you is pretty amazing.


• 'Sweet About Me' was one of the most-played songs on the radio in 2007 or something like that, we don't have the actual statistics to hand apols.


• Her 2010 album, 'Ten', was very good indeed but not that many people brought it.
