We live in exciting times.

Florrie will be ‘unleashing’ a new video on the world today, which is reasonably interesting.

“EXCITING NEWS!!” she shouted on Facebook.  ”I’m going to be releasing the video for my new song TOMORROW. It’s called Live A Little, and here’s a pic from the shoot! ARE YOU READY? X”

That “pic from the shoot” is above the words in this ‘news’ ‘story’.

What an amazing girlband that would be.

The prosaically-titled ‘New Song Snippet’ was shared at the end of a fairly lengthy blog aimed at updating everyone on her current comings and goings.

Basically, she’s recorded 20 songs and from that ‘pool’ she’ll pick the best ones for the album and the rest will be b-sides. Five of them are ones we’ve all heard before, but updated.

This new song is taken from an advert she’s done for Sony and there will be a video at some point too.

“Yes I have,” she confirmed when we asked her about when she had heard them. “But I’m not telling anyone about them, it’s top secret.”

When asked how amazing the songs were on a scale of 9 – 10, she added: “I’m not saying, sorry.”

Incredible.

Asked who else popped by Xenomania towers, she said: ”Annie was there! I love Annie, she’a always there. She’s always writing melodies and lyrics for me.”

Amazing. Who else?

“Florrie’s always there. They’re great them two. They always make vegetable drinks in the blender, which is better than drinking sugary drinks that’s for sure. I mean, I don’t actually like them but they’ve got me into them because they’re so healthy and they’re growing on me.”

When pressed to reveal the ingredients of these smoothies, Amelia added: ”There’s apples, carrots, beetroot, ginger, celery… I wanted to try them and they got me into them and I’m happy they did to be honest because they’re so good for you.”

So there you go. Not much info on Girls Aloud, but quite a lot regarding celery.

In the nicest possible way this final instalment of her independently-released EPs is more of the same, cementing the foundations laid over the last two years and paving the way (THAT’S ENOUGH MASONRY CHAT – ED) for very big things in the next phase of her career.

We asked her to explain what’s going on in each song and here’s what she sent over.

‘Shot You Down’
“This song is about the contrasting emotions you feel when you decide to end it with someone.  It’s sombre and moody, building to euphoria when the chords change from minor to major in the chorus.  It took a long time to make it into a record.  I dragged it from Kent to LA to Portland and eventually it all came together.”

‘If I Could Go Back’
“I’ve played in bands for years so I’ve always had a rock vibe about me and this track sums that up.  I wrote this with Jason Resch and Kieran Jones and I play guitar and drums on the track.”

‘Every Inch’
“The music was written during a jam session in the studio in Kent on a dark January night.  Fred Falke and Sam Martin play the main synth parts between them.  And my friend MNEK (amongst others) helped write the song.”

‘To The End’
“I wrote this last summer with Annie Strand.  And no, this isn’t the mysterious duet with Annie!  The chorus is an ad-lib that I came up with in the vocal booth. ‘Tragically uplifting’ is how I would describe this song.”

The 2:12 long clip features a nice looking radio filmed in black and white, a notepad, a black permanent marker and a hand which we assume belongs to the ‘You Wanna Start Something’ hitmaker herself.

The songs - ’Shot You Down’, ‘Every Inch’, ‘I’m Gonna Get You Back’ and ‘To The End’ – all sound distinctly above average so well done Florrie.

‘Late’ is released on May 31, which is a Thursday and not a Monday because Florrie does things her own way BLAH BLAH BLAH.

Writing in a blog on her official site, the perfume-flogging singer of song claims she has two ‘big songs’ up her sleeve and that she hopes to employ the services of a major label to help her launch her career with these.

Translation: expensive videos ahoy.

Florrie has previously given her reasons for not signing a record deal, but says she feels “like this is the right move at the right time”.

“At some stage in the next 8 – 12 months, I will be able to service my new record to radio stations, TV, press, which I’ve never done before, and it is MASSIVELY exciting!” she added.

Before that, though, the ‘Late’ EP is out May 31.
