The greatest song of all time, aka Clarko’s ‘Stronger (What Doesn’t Kill You)’, is up for Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year and Best Pop Solo Performance, while the album is in the running for Best Pop Vocal Album.

Jeppo’s ‘Call Me Maybe’ is also nominated for Song Of The Year (but not Record Of The Year) and Best Pop Solo Performance, while Florence and Fun. are also nominated here, there and everywhere (it’s a rather extensive list).

The ‘Bedroom Hymns’ hitmaker spoke to the Daily Star about this very topic, she noted: “It would have been difficult if it wasn’t successful because it does work well in bigger environments. I’m lucky that people have responded to it well.”

Maroon 5 are still at Number 2 with popular ode to derelict piss boxes ‘Payphone’, while StooShe’s ‘Black Heart’ moves up two places to Number 3. Teen lothario Conor Maynard is a new entry at Number 4 with ‘Vegas Girl’ and Flo Rida’s ditty about starting relay races ‘Whistle’ moves up one to 5.

Meanwhile on the albums chart, ‘cinema auteur’ Plan B’s soundtrack to his film Ill Manors enters at the ‘top spot’, with some sort of ‘punk’ band called The Gaslight Album at Number 2, Maroon 5′s ‘Overexposed’ at 3 and Jennifer Lopez’s iconic Greatest Hits collection ‘Dance Again – The Hits’ debuting at a respectable Number 4.

Other points of interest include Joss Stone’s ‘The Soul Sessions Vol 2′ entering at Number 6 and the new Now compilation ‘Now That’s What I Call Music! 82′ selling an exciting 267,000 units to become the highest selling album of the year behind its predecessor (aptly named ”Now That’s What I Call Music! 81′) and everyone’s favourite authentic chanteuse, Lana Del Rey.

will.i.am presented Jessie with the Solo Artist award, her second in a year. “A Glamour double dot com forward slash boom,” she remarked backstage after her acceptance speech. “I always forget how common I sound on a microphone that loud but it was nice to have my boy give me my award.”

Her boy brought his boy Tyler James as his date, telling ITN on the red carpet: “Last man standing, coolest man standing, dopest man standing, outstanding.”

X Factor redundancy recipient Kelly Rowland won the TV Personality award and said that she would “absolutely” do a similar show. “You’re celebrating new talent and new opportunities for talent, you know? It’s exciting,” she bullshitted gloriously.

Florence + The Machine won Band Of The Year, Kylie Minogue was given Outstanding Contribution while Dionne Warwick took home the Icon Award. (Caitlin Moran also won Writer Of The Year but she’s not a popstar, yet.)

‘Flo’ has signed up to preside over a selection panel for Hop Farm’s Create The Gate competition. Apparently it is an actual thing.

The organisers stress that contest is open to all and that no past gate design experience is necessary. “Even your gran could enter!” they suggested.

Meanwhile the newly crowned Paula Abdul of portcullises Welsh enthused: “It’s a great completion and I’m excited to see the designs.”

The winning entrant with see their entrance installed on site for the Hop Farm festival in Kent from June 29 – July 1.

“When I’m on stage, no-one can ask me to do anything,” she revealed to Stylist. “Even on the way to the stage, there’s still someone who wants an interview, or people taking my picture. Sometimes it’s like, ‘Get me onto the stage.’” She added: “It’s like freedom.”

Showing her distaste for the constant rigours of the showbiz machine, she described shoots and interviews as “a strange process”.

“When you’re talking about yourself, the whole idea of it is quite isolating,” she went on. “Being so introspective, it’s not actually one of my happiest places.”

Florence performed a collection of her hits with a ten-piece gospel choir during the ‘stripped back’  recording in New York. Included in her set list was Johnny Cash cover ‘Jackson’, which she performed with Queen Of The Stone Age’s Josh Homme, and Otis Reading’s ‘Try A Little Tenderness’. What a night out.

According to a press release, earlier that day Flo had been “hanging out at an abandoned house in the outskirts of NY” with Kanye West for a Vogue shoot, who later tagged along to the ‘gig’ with his pal Q-Tip.

The Secret 7″ and Record Store Day event will see 50 fan-designed sleeves, 49 covers by various ‘contributors’ (non regular people) and one sleeve by Florence herself all go on display in London.

The limited edition sleeve art exhibition will hang for three days at the Idea Generation gallery in Shoreditch from April 18.

On April 21, each of the unmarked sleeves will go on sale for a minimum donation of £40 – with proceeds going to the Teenage Cancer Trust. Your cash could buy you a one-off design by Florence Welsh, or it could buy you a one-off design by Joan from Grimsby.

The pop singer beat competition from Alison Mosshart of The Kills, who finished in a commendable second place, followed by Skin of Skunk Anansie fame, Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Karen O and Debbie Harry rounding off the Top 5.
