The salient points

• Cher Lloyd 'was like a breath of fresh air' and 'right up Cheryl's street' when she auditioned for series 7 of The X Factor.


• It really was a great performance though wasn't it?


• By the time the live shows rolled around, however, the 'general mood' had changed slightly and everyone thought Lloyd was a bit of a cow.


• There was a lot of rapping and general 'mash-up' malarkey during her first few performances but when she sang a ballad it was lovely and everyone got excited.


• She finished fourth, one place above Mary Byrne (WE WILL NOT FORGET) and went on the obligatory live tour thing.


• Her debut single, 'Swagger Jagger', was released to general negativity from the 'haters', but her 'brats' (well done everyone) sent it to Number One. In reality the song was half great. It was also half appalling.


• Her debut album is literally quite good, and it includes her own 'inimitable' take on Neneh Cherry's 'Buffalo Stance'.
