Sadfaced Scandinavian singers of song Lykke Li and Miike Snow have been added to the lineup of Helsinki’s Flow Festival August 8-12. (Though the press release we got did say “Helkinki” – so god knows what they have planned).

Joining the Ingrid label mates are Saint Etienne, as well as previously announced Björk, Bon Iver, Feist and The Black Keys. Best leave the glowsticks at home for this one, kids.

If it all that gets too much, Flow also ‘boasts’ a design, visual arts, film and architecture (!) program.

We’re told UK tickets are now on sale from here.

When ‘quizzed’ by Virgin Red Room on who he would love to work with, Will remarked that the answer “changes on a daily basis”, before settling resolutely on the arty swanfrock botherer.

“It’s kind of always been Björk really,” he remarked. “Big singer, big tracks, pretty amazing.”

Another popstar Will thinks is similarly amazing is “friend of mine” Sia, whose David Guetta collaboration is Will’s favourite marathon-running track.

The Woman Technically Known As Nanna Øland Fabricius told The Irish Times, “I actually see it as a huge compliment to be compared to Björk, because I think she’s one of the greatest… I’d much rather be compared to her than Lady Gaga”.

(You’ll be lucky to be compared to either, love.)

She goes on to talk about other female performers, saying: “It doesn’t matter whether I support Katy Perry or I support Sia – I think I will just always make the music that feels right for me to do”.

Oh Land also mentions that she likes to “use animals as a symbol of human behaviour” and that David Attenborough is one of her “big heroes”.

“Voice in a million.” Amazing. File alongside “distinctive vocal tones” and “effortless delivery”, or “unique sense of style”.

Also – ‘voice in a million’. That means there are another sixty people in the UK with exactly the same voice. Surely this puts Faryl and her label, Decca, in a vulnerable position because every other major label – and dozens of independent labels – could each launch identical ‘soundalike’ artists and ruin Faryl’s career. And that’s just in the UK. On a global scale there could be thousands of Faryl soundalikes, each with their own albums full of shit money-for-old-rope versions of popular classical hits.

By the way the good thing about the pile-up, each March, of sentimental, non-threatening mass market cash-in pop albums is that it is literally impossible to forget that Mothering Sunday is on the horizon. In the years before the music industry caught on to this annual excuse for the release of albums so low in quality that they’d have trouble justifying their place in a petrol station CD rack for the other 11 months of the year it was sometimes tragically easy for sons and daughters to forget that the special day was coming up. Rampant pop opportunism: we salute you.

No need for EMI‘s remaining staff to worry, though – apparently the man in charge of The Way Forward thinks there should be more focus groups. This will have the absolutely positive effect of ensuring that absolutely nothing remotely interesting or inventive is ever released by EMI ever again. (‘EMI managers will have to sing for their supper’ – The Telegraph)

You may not have heard of Duffy yet, but the Times are giving away a free download alongside their interesting interview with the not entirely un-tipped new singer. (‘Duffy The Voice – A New Star Is Born’ – The Times)

You would be wrong.

Maroon 5 – 'Makes Me Wonder'
A classic example of a mostly rubbish band making a wholly amazing record.
Millie Jackson's Popjustice Prediction:
Number Six

Booty Luv – 'Shine'
This is a Number One record. However, there will probably be something by The View people need to buy when this is in the shops.

Millie Jackson's Popjustice Prediction:
Number Two

HelloGoodbye – 'Here (In Your Arms)'
Lots of radio play means this will sell a lot of copies. Deservedly too.

Millie Jackson's Popjustice Prediction:
Number Four

Tiga – 'You Gonna Want Me'
No one was interested the other time this was released but maybe things have changed now.

Millie Jackson's Popjustice Prediction:
Number 75

Scissor Sisters – 'Kiss You Off'
Everyone has got the album now, haven't they? Well, some people have.

Millie Jackson's Popjustice Prediction:
Number 36

Bjork – 'Earth Intruders'
It has been over ten years since anyone bought a Bjork single instead of waiting for the inevitably disappointing album. This is quite good though.

Millie Jackson's Popjustice Prediction:
Number Eight

LCD Soundsystem – 'All My Friends'
Not the most popular band in the world, for unfathomable, possibly beard-related reasons.

Millie Jackson's Popjustice Prediction:
Number 50

Kim Sozzi – 'Break Up'
This is probably going to be in the Top Ten for months. Every time you check back, there it will be…

Millie Jackson's Popjustice Prediction:
Number Three

Chungking – 'Love Is Here To Stay'
Could go one way or the other. It will probably go the other.

Millie Jackson's Popjustice Prediction:
Number 62

Calvin Harris – 'Girls'
Not as good as his first single but not as bad as The Twang's first single either.

Millie Jackson's Popjustice Prediction:
Number Seven

Mutya 'Real Girl'
This will do alright.

Millie Jackson's Popjustice Prediction:
Number Seven

Rogue Traders 'Way To Go'
She was back in Neighbours recently you know.

Millie Jackson's Popjustice Prediction:
Number 52

Rihanna 'Umbrella'
A NUMBER ONE RECORD.

Millie Jackson's Popjustice Prediction:
Number One

Groove Armada 'Out Of Control'
ANOTHER NUMBER ONE RECORD.

Millie Jackson's Popjustice Prediction:
Number One

Someone has just emailed us a fifteen second clip of the new Bjork single, 'Earth Intruders'.

It is probably a bit of the chorus and it goes "we are the Earth intruders, we are the sharp shooters, something about parachuters, necessary woo-ooh-ooh-ooh". The "woo-ooh-ooh-ooh" bit is amazing.

It sounds all tribal and electroish and brilliant and not like someone throwing a breadbin at a bag of seagulls, which is a bit of a relief.

It would be good if the single itself was just fifteen seconds long, like that Avril Lavigne thing we mentioned the other week. But it is probably around the four minute mark.:(

(There's a good news story from Sunday on Bjork's official site, by the way.)
