According to The Mirror, Burko flew to New York recently to meet with former Def Jam boss Kevin Liles, and it all went rather well.

“Kevin met Alex and was really impressed by her,” a ‘source’ told someone at the paper. “He thinks she can be a global star. She is releasing an album later this year.”

She just needs some amazing songs, basically. Can’t be that hard.

The ‘Bury Me (6 Feet Under)’ songstress had a chat about just how bloody fast her career’s gone, telling Bang Showbiz: ”I don’t know how I got there, it seems like just yesterday that I won The X Factor, I want to show growth in me as a young woman [SEE A DOCTOR ABOUT THAT - MEDICAL ED] and I am at the point where I’m digging deep, deeper than I’ve ever dug before.”

But how deep are you going Alex?

”Back to the people who made music, Aretha Franklin, Billie Holiday, that gospel, spiritual sound really gets me. And that’s where music comes from. Our generation and people who are younger than me, they don’t really know where music started from, because some of them haven’t been taught that.”

This is either exactly what Alexandra should do next or exactly what Alexandra should not do next. There is no middle ground here.

Burko’s version is set to be played when the judges walk onstage during the live shows of US X Factor and was produced by Biff ‘Amazing’ Stannard.

“It’s always been one of the best Bond themes ever, and what a great time to re-record this as we celebrate 50 years of Bond,” the ‘Let It Go’ hitmaker or someone pretending to be her told the Daily Star Playlist.

Poor Leona.

Basically, each current chart slayer will perform as part of a West End musical; so Geri will be in Singin’ In The Rain, Blue will be in Jersey Boys and Burko will ‘give her all’ in Les Mis. Stooshe (and, er, Macy Gray) will appear in the Michael Jackson tribute show, Thriller: Live.

Alexandra had this to say about it all to a press release (as quoted here): “I’m so excited to be part of BBC Children in Need this year. It’s an amazing cause and helps so many people. I was absolutely blown away by Les Misérables when I saw the show and to join the cast of one of the West End’s most famous musical is a real honour.”

Geri, meanwhile, noted that she has “a thing for rain” so is very excited  about it all.

Amazing.

Burko will sing some songs and dance a bit on August 2 in both Hyde Park and Victoria Park, while Rebecca Ferguson will probably just do the singing bit while sitting on a stool on July 31 in Hyde Park.

(Amy MacDonald and Alyssa Reid will also be playing different dates but we’re not too bothered about them to be honest.)

Alex is reportedly hoping to ‘do a Mumba’ and make the leap from successful popstar to respected actress.

“I’ve been having acting lessons, so that’s an area I’d love to try soon,” she told The Daily Star.

But Burko won’t be content with just a cameo in Holby City, setting her sights on Hollywood instead. She said: “I’m hoping I can be another Brit who goes over there and fights for the dream.”

The James Blake fan thanked her fans (not Radio 1 so much then) for their support in a message played on The Official Chart Show. Reggie Yates also exclusively revealed earlier on in the programme that he has seen her in person and she is “hot”. Thanks for that Reggie.

The song has already reached Number One in several European countries including Denmark, Norway, Finland, Ireland and Iceland and of course, Sweden.

Back in the UK, Rudimental feat John Newman took ‘the top spot’ with ‘Feel The Love’, while Capital favourites Lawson entered at Number 4. Alexandra Burke’s ‘Let It Go’, meanwhile, sneaked into the Top 40 at Number 33.

Gary Barlow’s jubilee celebration nonsense has beaten Paloma Faith’s ‘Fall To Grace’ to Number One on the album chart, despite Faitho being ahead earlier in the week. Scissor Sisters’ ‘Magic Hour’ is at Number 4.

Ever the savvy businesswoman, Alex was holding her catalogue close to her chest.

“I’m not sure if it will end up in Argos or somewhere else,” she told Popjustice (that’s us!) in an interview/chat. “Argos was a nice starting point and I really enjoyed having my first ever collection be exclusively through them.”

Waxing lyrical about the luxury emporium she went on (a bit) to tell us “nobody in this country can say they’ve never shopped at Argos” and that “Argos played a really big part in our lives when we were younger” and even that her range is “just as good [as a Rolex].”

“For me to open up a catalogue and see my face…that WAS an achievement for me. Because I’ve never had my own range of watches,” she told us.

Now she’s going to have two ranges. Amazing.
