there is taking the piss and then this ... its not even as if many of these tracks didn''t get a commercial release of some kind.

and no digital download ... because they know people will download a couple of tracks and leave the rest?

i''m so tempted not to buy this .. would ruin collection but you have to draw a line somewhere.  i have spent thousands of pounds on psb records and cd''s over the years and now they ask for money for this!!!

sorry i''m ranting like a small child but i''m well p''d off!

It''s very uninspiring.

I''ll probably get it for the Integral mix, but there''s nothing else there I want at all!

I agree, and as a life-long Pet Shop Boys fan it''s a big disappointment. I''d rather NOT have it released at all than have to have it in my collection. Shades of Disco 2 all over again and THAT really stunk. Shame as Disco 3 is so brilliant.

Hopefully "Collabrations" will happen at some time.

I love the idea of an album called ''Collaboration'' with all their, er, collaborations on! Genius! I''m so knicking this concept for my own compilation.

Indeed. Everyone will just download the new mix of "Integral" and not bother with the actual cd at all, and who could blame them...
Where are the new songs like in Disco 3, or the exclusive remixes?? They could have at least put on a mix of "Minimal" and maybe one or two of the B-Sides from "Fundamental", in particular "The Resurrectionist" & "Blue On Blue" which should have been on the album in the first place.
I was really looking forward to Disco 4, but this release is really pointless.

Oh, dear. This feels like a major misstep. Although it will cost next to nothing to release, it will undoubtedly flop. This is the first release under PSB''s new/old arrangement with EMI - not an auspicious sign. Is there some late-career arrogance creeping into the PSB camp?

I don''t get it at all, and normally I think they can do no wrong.

I''m a bit disappointed by this.
I''m not sure what I''d hoped for, perhaps every other Disco album is meant to be shit, mind you the first one wasn''t *brilliant*, come to think of it, Disco3 wasn''t really a Disco album in my eyes, and every time I go to slag off Disco 2 I''m reminded I quite like it really....

I''ve no idea what I am trying to say.
I have a fever.

It looks like the PSB aren''t that excited about that album, either... I bet it wasn''t their decision to release it, just Parlophone willing to have a quick buck...

Unfortunately it was The Pet Shop Boys own idea to put their remixes of other artists on this release. They should have at least made it 2 discs, and best of all, not class it as a "Disco" release at all. Then it wouldnt seem so bad.

Let''s be honest, it''s been many many years since PSB made a truly essential album.  For me it was Very in 1993.

Let''''s be honest, it''''s been many many years since PSB made a truly essential album.  For me it was Very in 1993.

People over 30 always say things like this about established artists because, let''s face it, the music of your youth just seems more vital and is imbued with all those fabulous memories.  I think Neil and Chris have recently done their best work ever, but it''s all subjective.

Following up a sensational record like Fundamental with a shoddy cash-out like this is unfortunate, but certainly not the first time they''ve done it. In a way, they couldn''t really have issued a standard PSB Disco 4 because they issued it along with Fundamental (Fundamentalism was Disco 4). They did help pioneer the idea of re-marketing ones back catalogue over and over and over again, so I guess I am sort of pleased that they''re attempting to evolve, albeit in the "wrong" direction...

I don''t object to this being released but it shouldn''t be called Disco 4 as it doesn''t tie in with the previous Disco releases.

Plus I always thought they should release ''Collaboration'' under that title too!
