The problem with Dr. Luke is that he creates SUCH catchy songs which you can't help but love at first but that love converts to hate after the first 5 listens. I mean who the fuck can stand Avril's Girlfriend?

Exactly! I think 'About You Now' is the only song that doesn't actually fall in to that category

I knew I hated Girlfriend from the start, but there was something I liked about it which kept me listening. I still haven't worked out what that something was!

I'm a bit sad face about the Katy Perry cast offs. Of all the artists in the world they had to pick Katy Perry songs.

I think Masquerade is a horrible album title. I thought Funhouse and Circus were pretty horrible titles too.

My December was a brilliant title. I'm guessing Kelly didn't pick the title this time. Poor Kelly.

It's not so much that she's taking Katy Perry's cast-offs, it's that from the looks of it she's becoming another manufactured Max Martin product. Right down to even the album name, and imagery.

Hopefully I'm wrong...

Masquerade is a bad album title itself, but especially after the My December controversy. It's like she has to "pretend" to be this pop artist again to please her label execs and fans. I bet some journalist will mention something to that extent when the reviews are released.

There seems to be major hype for this album though, especially in the States.

Rolling Stone has heard a handful of tracks and has stated that they are "totally awesome"...

I don't know why anyone is worried to be honest, I think it is going to be an album full of solid pop songs, heightened by an absolutely immense voice.

I really don't like the sound of it:

Is she?

What do you say we make things easier for artists who are still in the middle of deciding on a name for their upcoming albums?

I love Kelly but I don't like how she is being given cast offs.  She is worth much more than cast offs.  I'm also quite dissappointed that she hasn't written or co-written any tracks named so far.
Is it any different though to record a 'cast-off' than to record a song which you didn't co-write? This whole deal with cast-offs is pretty ridiculous, they're still songs and they can still be bloody good - like has been said, see 'Breakaway'.

YAY for Cathy Dennis!

Indeed, as long as the song ends up sounding great, then what does it matter? And it makes it all the more fun for us pop fact fans to see what song was meant for whom etc. etc.

I'm surprised to see how unpopular 'Black Hole' is here! I personally really like it and with Kelly's vocals it could have been epic. The only thing that really bugs me is when she sings "somewhere there's a universe of missing stuff". Why 'stuff'? They could have easily made it to be "somewhere there's a universe of missing love" and it would have been infinitely better!

It's not that "Black Hole" is totally rubbish - I made a mix CD of Kara Dioguardi songs I own (so some Ashlee, Lohan, Paris, plus "Spinning Around") and think that the melody to the verses is quite good, it's just the clunking chorus lets the whole thing down.

Looking down the songwriter credits for the album Breakaway, my 2 fave songs (Since U been gone & Behind these hazel eyes) are both co-written by Dr Luke. Several others are Kara Dioguardi. Because of you is co-written by Ben Moody (who also did a track on Lohan's second album). So, seeing as these people were responsible for my fave bits of Kelly's best album, I'm keen to see who's writing for the album.

Let us hope that Haylie Duff never has an album.

I hoped that the majority of this album would be a Ryan Tedder/Kelly Clarkson joint venture, they seemed to have had a great working relationship, both very enthusiastic about the album and the Rockish Power-Pop stuff they've done together. And now only 2 or 3 cuts will actually make it...

I really hope they haven't A&Red this album to death with Kelly nodding her head and not complaining about any of their ideas...

After hearing his contributions to Funhouse and Circus, I'm convinced that Max Martin has one idea a decade and repeats ad nauseum.
I thought that was blindingly obvious long before either of those albums was released.
