"i don't need a big fucking dick..."

The amazing The Sounds talk cock...

What can we tell you about The Sounds? Well, despite being from Sweden they have never hoped to represent their country in a continent-wide music competition, instead preferring to tour the world with loads of unsuitable 'emo' bands.

We had a sit down and a chat with Maya and Jesper from the band recently. Here is what they had to say for themselves…

Hello The Sounds. Are you happy with all the boobs being waved around in your 'Tony The Beat' video?
Maya: Those models weren't great looking girls.
Jesper: That was OK, we didn't want supermodels. Some of them were a bit rough though.

Did you not get to hand-pick your own naked women?
Maya: Believe it or not we were in LA, where you can find the most porno ladies ever, and look what we ended up with!

How do you fit into all that Swedish Eurovision business?
Jesper: We don't. The scary thing in Sweden is that the only way to sell records is to be in the Eurovision Song Contest. Bands sign up for that and it occupies Sweden completely - a lot of bands similar to us try and make it there because it's the only way.
Maya: It's very sad.

Here it is a place where shit popstars go to end their own career.
Maya: It was like that before, I remember so many bands used to be 'oh I'm not doing fucking Eurovision' so how fucking embarrassing is it that this year they're competing in it themselves...

Why is it alright for women to be bisexual in bands when men have to keep it under their hats?
Maya: If that happens it's all 'shh shh shh'. If I tell a guy that I'm bisexual, so many will tell me they are going to make me love men again and it's not like that. It's not that I need a fucking big dick to make me love men again, I love men but I love women as well and I think there is something appealing about that idea for some men.
Jesper: Like there's still a chance.
Maya: If I tell a guy that I'm bisexual he doesn't back off. It's like they want it even more.
Jesper: We were labeled as a gay band for a long time. Everyone in our band has a gay sensibility and a lot of people think that us guys in the band are gay.
Maya: Even before I came out with it people actually though that the guys were gays and I think that's because they're all pretty boys and they all look good.

Is it fun being a lady with lots of young men in the band?
Maya: To do this as girl you need twice the ballsand it is so much easier to fall into that pretty, sexy girl role that's really boring and you will eventually turn into a pop singer like Christina Aguilera. I think you have to be very, very confident and be very secure about yourself – which is very uncommon in women. You really have to not give a fuck.

Do you not give a fuck?
Maya: I do give a fuck but it's not like I am ever gentle with myself about anything.

Are The Sounds going to struggle and then fail?
Maya: I was thinking about this last summer, that we should have achieved so much more than we had and I was thinking for a while that it was because I was a woman. But everyone told me to shut up, that it wasn't anything the band would change anyway and to not think about it.
Jesper: It's about the label too. We don't have a good label in the US. It's not a secret that if you are on a bigger label then you have a better chance of getting radio support, instead of touring and playing in front of 300 people 24 hours a day like every fucking day of the year. You get a little bit of radio and it all goes so much faster.
Maya: But then I think that can fall away again just as fast.

Can you ditch the American label?
Jesper: I don't know. That's not for us to figure out and I don't want to even think about it.
Maya: It makes me depressed.

We'll leave you with that thought. Thank you very much Maya and Jesper from The Sounds.
