The first time we listened to this we thought it was a massive misfire and the Complete End of one of the best pop bands to have emerged in the last five years.
Fortunately:
1. Further listening revealed it to be nothing of the sort.

As we mentioned in this detailed run-through of this new single 'The Spell' conjurs up three specific 80s club sounds (ie early club-Madge, peak-time Shannon-esque electrodisco and post-acid-house Black Box raveorama) and bangs the whole lot together in a deeply unfashionable but highly brilliant three minute and thirty seven second surge of late-2009 chart joy.
