In the future - and by 'the future' we mean the very near future, not some stupid intangible sci-fi sort of future - every hotel will be required by law to have a copy of 'Dave Pearce Trance Anthems 2009' in every bedside table, right next to the Bible. And every hotel guest, on every visit, will be required to listen to at least one Dave Pearce Trance Anthem. A respectable showing at Number 10.

This album - full tracklisting here - is kind of unbelievable. It's basically 'Now That's What I Call A Lazy Funeral' - a self indulgent blubfest perfect for Britain's wallowing, boo-hoo, post-Jade mood of misery. Songs include 'Candle In The Wind' and 'Abide With Me' as well as Girls Aloud's version of 'I'll Stand By You' and Triniti's spin on what has become Britain's favourite hackneyed tearjerker - 'Fields Of Gold'. A truly astonishing piece of work that leaves an even worse taste in the mouth than an eight month old Tesco Value pork pie.

And finally: well done Lily. Well done on making a genuinely likeable album that people have genuinely liked. Well done on making it a pop album but also a very clever and perceptive album. Well done on making an album that's all about being young but also all about growing up. Well done on doing it on your own terms but doing it in a way that's instantly popular with loads of different types of people. Well done all round.
