Thread: HUMAN LEAGUE

Tell Me When is a classic slice of "deliberately HL pop" - the best since Kim Wilde's You Came; I played the crap out of it at the time, although Filling Up With Heaven was my favourite track on Octopus by a mile. I was saddened by its failure as a single.

My favorite track on Octopus is These Are The Days. Love the lyric, and the sort of more primitive electronic bleep bloop approach. Lovely fat bassline, lots of little pings and whooshes. Good stuff.

Yeah, These Are The Days is very Dare-era in its feel. Like how Dare might have sounded if made in 1995.

Neither of the first two singles from Credo made me want to buy the album. Which is kind of sad, since the League are one of THE finest pop groups of all-time.

Yeah, it's an OK album and definitely a grower. But after that initial month or so I haven't really felt compelled to go back to it. Shame. I didn't feel that way about Secrets at all - I loved it from the word go and I still play it a lot.

Oh 'Tell me when' made me want to buy the album, my first League album since 'Hysteria', and it was such a treat when I first played the album to hear the lovely long version of 'Tell me when', that false ending elevated the song to another level! Whilst it had it's moments, nothing on 'Octopus' lived up to that single. But hey, what a track.

It's the final mix of the celebrations as the fact that Don't You Want Me stayed at the No 1 spot in the UK Charts over the new year back in 1981/82 deserves a special mention with a cool new take on the classic.

It was online at the Electricity Club site at some point, sounded awesome! But you should vivist the Electricity Club to listen to the Fotonovela Mix of Egomaniac, just as good.
