Thread: Hey, Mods...

  1. #1
... is it possibly time to do something about the Gaga threads? Obviously I don't know if ye're handing out warnings behind the scenes or whatever, but it doesn't exactly seem to be working. Not that that's your fault, but sadly people can rather disappointing.

    Ahem.

We'll have to do something about the outbreak of mass stupidity currently infecting the forum. I don't think it's going to be enough to simply warn people. They're too idiotic to heed any sort of rebuke. We've got a lot of new posters coming onto the forum and they seem like a better bunch than some of the troublemakers.

I'm going to PM some of you this week to talk about pressing stop on this horror movie. With luck we can come up with good sensible suggestions, I've already got a few ideas. Then we'll send it to the moderators/PopJustice and they can either approve or no thanks. What have we got to lose? It's time to bring some people power into play and with luck we can purge the forum of dumbness. Some posters on here are bitches for the sake of it, they just want to fight because they've got nothing better to do. Only that can explain the constant attempts at annoying other people. Some posters are manipulative and quite possibly psychopathic.

Dreading to think which camp Kirkland deems me a member of...

For all my Nu Madonna-dragging, there's an abundance of Kate Bush and MKS adoration.

I haven't seen a moderator post in a few days so that could be the root problem. More extremely we haven't heard from Peter in ages. We need more order and discipline not to 'purge the forum' (?). There's also the issue of veteran forum members throwing around the troublemaker card and talking down to others when in many cases they are just as guilty and petty as the people they are singling out.

It's not as if this is the first time arguments in threads got out of hand on here, I'm sure there are plenty of threads in this section so I'm not really worried about the dumb arguments that break out. My biggest concern are the personal attacks that take place on here in a lot of instances. I'm all for level headed discussions and debates, even if they get heated, but when the name calling starts happening it veers into cyber bullying and that really makes reading this forum an uncomfortable experience.

There's something to be said about someone that is concerned about fighting and drama on the forum yet they feel the need to call others idiots and psychopaths. I'm not sure what's about.

A note to the moderators: The Lady Gaga and Madonna threads seem to be the most 'high risk' ones. I barely ever post in them due to the page long arguments about the most inane things. If you find it hard to keep a look out on the entire forum with the report function being defunct, I would keep an eye out on those specific threads.

I'm willing to try anything. I'm really at the stage where, if things don't improve in the next few weeks, I'm outta here.

Yes, there's quite 'a mess' right now. I'm currently working on my iPhone alone (my computer is on the fritz), but rest assured te problem members have made themselves well known over the past week and they will be dealt with accordingly. In the meantime, I'd advise you either just take a couple weeks break from the forum or 'rise above' and ignore all the stupid arguments.

I am delighted though that you all can't seem to go a full week without me.

Don't flatter yourself Someboy, it's like 2.30am in a nightclub, any body will do!

(Nah, thanks Someboy, I imagine it's a bit of a pain for the lot of ye at this point.)

If you're only using your iPhone, do you agree that the Popjustice iPhone experience is dire and needs to be changed ASAP? I can't post a post without my entire system crashing.

Also, I can't believe people make such a mess over a fur coat. We should make a new Gaga thread that's by invitation only, and all we do is talk about how cute her dog is and the injustice of Christmas Tree not being a lead single.
Yeah because Lady Gaga is the only pop star of this generation to have an iconic anthematic song. California Gurls says hi. *Eye roll*

Even with a more friendly mobile version, moderating on a phone would be virtually impossible, like running a marathon on one leg.

Please just be patient and know we're aware of everything that's gone on.

Does this forum still have rules people are supposed to keep in mind? Is posting news agency pictures allowed now, for instance? The Christina thread is full of them. I take it the reporting function still doesn't work?

There's a barebones The Rules page, but I can't even find any link to it. (I had saved the URL though.)

Where is all this drama going down? I'm around pretty much all day every day, and from the top of my head I can't recall any outright personal attacks, cat fights or any drama of any significance. Posting pictures from a video shoot equals a sudden influx of troublemakers who must be purged? What?

This is a forum, the whole point is to discuss. I see discussions (especially Madonna, Lady Gaga, Sugababes) go round and round and round, which might get boring, but offensive? disruptive? Surely one can just not reply to them and post whatever else it was you were going to post instead? There's no obligation to post a reply to the immediate last post.

I didn't mention any drama, did I? There used to be (or maybe still is) a rule about not posting news agency pictures, as Peter could get in trouble for them - you're supposed to pay for them, you know. I was just wondering if there are even still rules people are supposed to abide and if there was any point reporting posts at all if you see something dodgy, I seem to remember the mods weren't getting notified anymore when you report, but I'm not sure.

    Was all.

    Aargh, the SPAM!

What is going on this evening?!

(Apologies - I know this isn't quite the right thread, but I was having a moment of crisis).

The spam is out of control tonight.
