Mika - The Origin of Love (Third Album)

It is a standout! Everything on this album is so amazing... It's like Mika broke his sound down to its components and every song here corresponds to just one of them, instead of being an experiment of how to balance all of the different ingredients within.

It is kind of stripped off of the most peculiar elements of his sound so the material is as pure pop as it gets, and I believe that perhaps people who didn't respond well to the previous album get what they want with this one.

Overrated and Popular Song are perhaps the songs I have a more soft spot for at the moment.
I think I wouldn't mind at all if Kids, Step With Me and perhaps even Lola had not been included. But they are great.
I have even have Ta Dah right before Heroes in my playlist. It fits with the rest.

Disappointed in the Underwater video. Excellent setting, make-up and lighting, horribly immature camera work, performance and metaphor.

It feels like a school play dream fantasy being filmed by someone of that age. Could be intentional knowing Mika, but it doesn't work perfectly.

And it actually feels ideal as a Christmas gift (even to yourself) it has a certain kind of feel to it,
that makes it ideal for the occasion.

Loving this album! The standouts of it so far have been Lola, Make You Happy and Underwater.

Is there a chance he'll be dropped after this?

Who knows? I doubt they had high expectations though. And I believe it was a good re-start.
I'd definitely want to know where his sound could go next.

This was a brilliant album, his best of the 3 for me.
Emily, Lola, Underwater, Stardust, Step With Me, Popular Song, Ta Dah, Celebrate, Love You When I'm Drunk, Overrated... all amazing <3

An excellent single version. Especially if it is actually meant for the US audience. Great mix.
Much better than Celebrate as a single.
I wouldn't like it in the album instead of the original though. I wonder if they'll make a video? I suppose not.
