It's time to decide the best Korean single of 2011.
Welcome back. It's been a while. I shouldn't have kept you all waiting. But the 2nd Annual 20 Won Music Prize is here now. And it's time again to decide the best K-Pop release of the last year.
Based off Popjustice's own 20 Quid Prize, the 20 Won Prize seeks to find the best K-Pop single released in the last year. Obviously as we cannot all meet in real life to decide a winner like in the actual 20 Quid, the winner in this competition will be decided through one of PJ's time-tested traditions - the Single Survivor. Last year, in Popjustice's first ever Won Prize, SHINee's "LUCIFER" beat out KARA's "Jumping" in the heart-stopping finale to be crowned winner out of a field of more than 100 songs. Will this year's winner continue the legacy of great taste on Popjustice? Or will it disgrace us like a dirty rag on the bathroom floor of Inkigayo? We will soon find out...
But how exactly does a song qualify? Good question reader! For a song to qualify it must be a single or promotional song released between January 1, 2011 and December 31, 2011. Japanese or English tracks by Korean artists are fair game as long as they follow the aforementioned guidelines and are not remakes of songs released in other years (i.e. Run Devil Run Japanese version could not qualify for this year).
I hope to see all the familiar faces back to play this year, and hopefully some new ones too!
