Define 'best'. Also: none of that Fantasia thing was singing, all of that was screaming.

They're both bloody awful. All that fucking around. Just sing the faffing melody Mariah!!!
So you like show tunes? That doesn't mean you're gay. It just means you're AWFUL!!!

Fantasia's voice is so bizarre. To this day, I am still pressed that Latoya London didn't win their series of American Idol.

As for Celine vs Mariah, I'm not sure what the point of asking for a 'nowadays' opinion is besides to shade Mariah. Her voice isn't anywhere near as good now as during Emotions-Music Box-Daydream-Butterfly, but overall I prefer it to Celine. Whereas I think Mariah can cover so many levels, from the smooth to the belting, all within the same song- My All, Open Arms, If It's Over being a few of my faves- I always find Celine at her best only during the belting. Mariah's got more of the whole package. I love both girls dearly though, don't get me wrong!
Yeah because Lady Gaga is the only pop star of this generation to have an iconic anthematic song. California Gurls says hi. *Eye roll*

    Pfft, Fantasia.

She has a horrible voice. Worst of all the belters. No wonder she doesn't sell any records.

Now ,Celine is obviously superior. 20 years ago Celine was..........obviously superior.

There is no denying that at her peak Mariah had a sensational voice but that is not the same thing as being a great vocalist. Sometimes less is more which is something Mariah has never understood.

Can you not read? Read my reply to Mr Telephone Man. Mariah's "fucking up" of her voice is NOTHING to do with her technique. Because you could sing literally the vocally-hardest pop songs for 7 years flawlessly and then suddenly deteriorate (this is sarcasm).

It may be sarcasm but it's certainly not English.

It clearly is English, just poorly worded. Also, I hope you're aware of the irony of your statement, when half of your posts look like they were written by a badly behaved child.

I find it extremely amusing that you've casually passed over the destruction of your ridiculously unfounded remark.

    No that was SANGING

There is more to singing than hitting high notes. Tone, timing, passion, soul, internation, bravery, performance are all just as, if not more important

My favourite singer is probably Billy Holiday who probably had 1 octave range but said more in 2 notes than Mariah said her whole career. Don't get me wrong Mariah had an amazing voice it's just not really my kind of thing

Miss Patti knows a whole lot more about singing then Lotv ever will (despite his pretentious and ubiquitous protestations) and anyone who can make her do this

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HWzKk...ailpage#t=217s

    is an AMAZING vocalist

"Miss Patti" (really, aren't you about forty?) would of course know a lot more about singing than me; she's been doing it for about forty years. Quelle surprise.

The answer to your question is yes and your acknowledgement of her superior understanding becomes you, as would a little more humility in future

    Yesss mump, book her.

I love Patti, though Mariah's always going to be my #1. The range is smooth, yet still insane.

I would love if Mariah & Celine duetted its long overdue

When was Celine ever considered an amazing vocalist?? Mariah is so much better..

I also think Jessica Simpson is one of the best vocalists of our time maybe up there with Christina, Whitney, Mariah..

Mariah, technically, has a better range, but Celine's kept her voice in better shape over the years.

Plus, Celine will bring you helikopsters.
Leaving out hideous expressions like 'Kelendria' (who even is that?) would be a good start. - Someboy re: Kelly Rowland's birth name

Lets be real, Mariah on a bad day still beats out most of the girls who have been well rested and sipping that Honey and Lemon.
Beyonce. Lana. Mariah. Ciara. Taylor. Iggy.

At their peak? Mariah has a gorgeous tone and the best melisma to ever exist, Celine's a bit.. I dunno what the technical term is but despite having a better range (excluding Mariah's whistle), her tone is a bit annoying and doesn't have a very wide scope for many genres, despite her having the best and most effortless belts in the history of ever.

    Now? Celine. Duh.

I always loved Chilli from TLC as a vocalist.
And I am not joking (now).
