I think the main problem is that a small number of users are very much relishing the prospect of ruining the forum for the majority.

Having just checked there, Peter answered a question or two logging in not too long ago on Twitter, so he must still have an eye on things. But the silence is a bit unnerving. I wish he'd back the mods up a bit more, there's really only so much they can be doing to stop the forum properly lapsing. It's not at the tipping point though, at least.

I think honestly the lack of presence of anyone in authority the past while got to a certain group of users. They sort of thought they were above it all and now one of them has been hurtled back to reality they are flabbergasted as to how this could happen to any of them because they were never really warned firstly or whatnot.

I'm not blaming moderators in the slightest, just my look on the situation.

I feel like just because the moderators weren't as present as they could have been doesn't excuse them from following the rules they very well knew were there before the switchover. They felt like they ran the forum and could do and say whatever they please. People started showing their true colors. They knew what they were doing...no one should be surprised by the consequences.

I don't know if this is deserving of a new thread but I have a friend who has made an account (they made it several months ago in fact), but can't post because they've not gotten their account activated. They sent an email and they've gotten no response so I'm wondering if this is just one person who slipped through the net or is it something happening to all new accounts?

All new accounts need activating. I can't tell you why this one didn't happen though!
