I didn't realise this until today but Kim had some stellar tunes in the 80s, like this...

Invisible Hands, great video too. Looks like all her decent albums are impossible to find now unless you want to remortgage!

I'm spending the day listening to Kim, Melissa Manchester, Dusty Springfeld (White Heat), Sheena Easton, Laura Branigan, Stevie Nicks, Tina Turner, Cher, Pat Benatar, Grace Jones (Inside Story), Belinda Carlisle and Debbie Harry to name but a few. I'm trying to lift my summer sadness.

Yep, most of Kim's studio albums are now ridiculously rare. Plenty of (cheap) compilations around, but it's not the same. I love her 80s work...everything from Mistaken Identity ('81) right up to the gorgeous View From The House ('88). Some amazing music. A very underrated artist, and probably only 2nd to the great goddess Stephanie Nicks in my book.

Yeah, that's a good one - there are some good 12" mixes from that era around too. I have an irrational liking for the 1983 set, Cafe Racers. It's got that slightly dreamy, cinematic brand of electronic AOR - much like Carly Simon's Spoiled Girl, actually. Which is getting a reissue this month, and also features input from Nile Rodgers!

We are so on the same wavelength tonight - I've just realised that Kim's 'Don't Call It Love' from Mistaken Identity is the same as Dusty's 'Don't Call It Love' from White Heat which was my starting point last night and I was just on my way upstairs to find Carly's Spoiled Girl to add to my now AMAZING playlist with Hurricane and Invitation to Dance 12" mixes, happy days.
