Thread: Dallas.

    So, did anyone like?

I must admit that despite all the convulted plot twists and turns I really did enjoy it more than any other "reboot" that's been on in the recent years. It's nice to know that 34 years on, JR is still the biggest bastard to ever hit the tv screens.

    And the theme song *squee*

Leaving out hideous expressions like 'Kelendria' (who even is that?) would be a good start. - Someboy re: Kelly Rowland's birth name

Not on in the UK until September which seems like a weird decision in this day and age.

I'm of an age to have watched the original religiously (And all 13 seasons twice since) so am somewhat worried about trashing the legacy but at least they've brought much of the old team back. Won't be the same of course until Victoria Principal, Ken Kerchaval, Charlene Tilton and Priscilla Presley return.

Oh and most importantly of all I want to look like this when I'm 71........

It's amazing. Just so much fun, so camp and over the top. Brenda Strong (aka Mary Alice!) is brilliant in it too. Love her.

Charlene and Ken are in the new episodes, just not contract players.

I loved how good she was with a shotgun. Very fitting!

I've just found a reason to be interested in this...

Victoria Principal should SO be in this. They could easily make out that she didn't really die. Last time I saw her she was doing infomercials....

Her face looks like a burns victim.............

They have an "open invitation" for her basically. It's up to her at this point.

(Did anyone know that Victoria's moms name is Ree Veal? Amazing.)

Is this watchable if you haven't seen the original?

As long as you know a bit about the original series you should be fine (ie Bobby = eternal good guy, JR = the biggest bastard on television to ever exist, etc).

It's a shame the young cast pales in comparison to the charismatic older cast, but it's still some good old fashioned summer fun.

    Renewed for season 2!

I love how the revelation that fake Marta has bipolar was followed immediately by Marta going OFF HER ROCKER. I love this show but subtle it ain't.

I'm rewatching the original and I'm up to season 4, but it's all in the spirit of the original. How it was ever a mystery beyond the first episode of season 4 re: who shot JR is beyond me. They were basically hitting the viewers over the head with plot points.

Josh Henderson is like my love in life, I'm clearly going to be watching this.

I'd think Josh Hutcherson was sexy if the memory of him on The Ashlee Simpson Show didn't haunt me.

I honestly can't make up my mind whether I really like this or if it's just ok. It is always nice to know that Jesse Metcalfe and those glorious tits of his are getting work though.

The finale (and indeed the whole season) was fabulous. Starts tonight on Five in the UK.

Random, but does anybody else remember when Josh Henderson was in the band Scene 23 on the US reality show Popstars 2? I loved that group and their only single, 'I Really Don't Think So' is still one of my favorite songs:

I don't remember that, but I do remember when he was going out with Ashlee Simpson on the her reality show and he came across really badly. Which is hard when you're on a show with Ashlee Simpson.

    Bumpity Bump Bump.

Has anyone here been watching Dallas this season? I am obsessed with, it's without a doubt one of favourite shows on TV at the moment - its definitely filled the Desperate Housewives-shaped hole in my heart.

I think they've handled Larry Hagman's death excellently.

I'm watching it. Never seen the original series but hoping to rectify that soon. The death of JR has been well done. Cleverly edited footage to make new scenes of him on the phone and I liked the different opening titles for the funeral. Linda Gray is fabulous. And 72!

I had to stop watching. Struggled through the first season and got about 5 into the 2nd before giving up. It's just boring.

    Nashville is the new Dallas.

The latest few episodes have really kicked it up a notch. I love Cliff Barnes and how he will do almost anything to destroy the Ewings. The oil-rig sabotage was amazing.I also love that Sue Ellen is becoming darker and more conniving since JR passed.

I think we should be getting a season three. Fingers crossed, at least.

I loved the finale! My body is so ready for Season 3. They had the perfect amount of resolution/cliffhangers.
