    Re: 2 Unlimited...I can actually quite believe they made better records when they tried to deviate from their formula but had less success...quite a few (cheesy) pop acts have done that.

    Now 23 is quite the collection of weird dance tracks: Tetris, Supermarioland, and I can remember the Smart-E's Sesame's Treet ravetastic thingy. Bizarre era but enjoyable in hindsight. We don't get mini-fads like that much now.

    Sesame's Treet, haha that was another one. It wasn't my bag at all, but it wasn't a trend that saturated all pop music; it co-existed with everything else, and as you say, petered out fairly quickly. I did feel dance music culture gave pop and rock in general a bit of a lift in the early 90s; the cross-pollination brought out the best in U2 and Primal Scream for instance, and that vibe underpinned a lot of otherwise-disaparate bands. It felt like a breath of fresh air.
